Cycling Rehabilitation
Cycling is a sport that is increasingly popular and many people are now using cycling as a mode of transport to and from work. It is an excellent exercise for cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. Apart from being set up well on a suitable bike, proper cycling rehabilitation is equally important in managing and/or preventing cycling related injuries whilst also improving your cycling performance and enjoyment.
Cycling requires predominantly trunk and lower limb control, flexibility, strength and endurance, but it also requires good shoulder and neck function. Cycling rehabilitation involves analysing how you cycle on your bicycle, then making specific changes to your bicycle and/or improving your biomechanics. Video analysis is a very useful clinical tool that we use to analyse your cycling style and with that we can identify biomechanical errors in your cycling. Based on the biomechanical errors we pick up combined with an in-depth assessment of your musculoskeletal (muscles, joints) system, we can rectify those errors with specific manual treatment and/or exercise treatment. We may also recommend some modifications to your bicycle to improve your cycling ergonomics.
